Gavai Barrage is a major water resource project located in Bokaro district of Jharkhand state. The barrage is built on the Gavai river, which is a tributary of the Damodar river. It has been developed for purposes such as water conservation, irrigation, drinking water supply and flood control.
Construction of Gavai Barrage
The barrage was constructed mainly to meet the irrigation needs of the regional farmers and for better management of water. The work was completed by the Government of Jharkhand through the Water Resources Department.
