Workshop was organised by NIC Bokaro in the auditorium located in the Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Information Science Officer Mr. Dhananjay Kumar, detailed information was given sequentially, computer operators of various departments of the district, office heads and VLEs etc. participated.

As per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Vijaya Jadhav, workshop was organised on “Safe Internet Day” in the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday. Based on this year’s theme ‘Together for a Better Internet’, special attention was given to internet security and awareness in this programme. During the program, District Informatics Officer (DIO) Mr. Dhananjay Kumar urged the people present to use the Internet carefully. He stressed that while using the Internet, it is necessary to ensure that the sites are authentic, advised that one should avoid unnecessarily sharing their personal information on Facebook or other social media platforms.

The District Informatics Officer (DIO) said that it is very important to check the domain of any unknown link before clicking on it. There is a need to be vigilant to avoid fake sites. Before opening any link received through SMS, it should be investigated. Appealed to take other important precautions while using the Internet. Said that collective efforts and awareness are very important for safe use of the Internet.

Earlier, the District Informatics Officer (DIO) told everyone about Safer Internet Day. Said that, every year it is celebrated on Tuesday of the second week of February. This year it is being celebrated today i.e. on 11 February 2025.

On the occasion, SI Shri Krishna Kumar Kushwaha of Cyber ​​Thana Bokaro said that the Internet is a powerful medium, but with it problems like cyber crime, data theft, online fraud and cyber bullying have also increased. He spoke in sequence about cyber security, digital privacy and positive uses of the Internet, receiving calls by looking at the country code, not sharing personal information with anyone. At the same time, he said that any complaint related to cyber crime should be made immediately on 1930 and www.cybercrime.gov.in.

On the occasion, Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh threw light on why Safe Internet Day is celebrated. He said that Safe Internet Day was started in 2004 by the “Safe Border Project” of the European Commission. After this, the INSAF Network worked to spread it globally. Today it is celebrated in more than 170 countries, where governments, tech companies and educational institutions together run awareness campaigns about cyber security. Its main objective is to spread awareness about safe and responsible use of the Internet, especially among children and youth.

On the occasion, ADIO Mr. Amresh Kumar, UIDAI DPO Mr. Shailendra Mishra, Network Engineer Pallav Ghosh etc. presented their views in the workshop.

Many officials and common citizens participated in the workshop and shared their views on internet security. The objective of this workshop was to spread awareness among internet users and cooperate in establishing a safe digital environment.

Employees from various departments, computer operators, Village Level Entrepreneurship (VLE) etc. were present in the workshop.

Tips to stay safe on the Internet were given in the workshop, which are as follows:-

 Create a strong password and use two-factor authentication (2FA).

 The password should be at least 12-16 characters and should contain letters (A-Z, a-z), numbers (0-9) and special symbols (!, @, #, $ etc.)

 Create different passwords for each platform.

 Share your personal information on social media as little as possible.

 Do not share date of birth, mobile number, home address and other personal information publicly.

 Strengthen your privacy settings and do not accept friend requests from strangers.

 Do not click on suspicious emails and links.

 Check before clicking on unknown emails, SMS, or WhatsApp links to avoid phishing attacks.

 Use only secure websites with “https://”.

 Avoid unknown Wi-Fi networks.

 Use VPN when using public Wi-Fi (such as cafes, hotels, railway stations).

 Keep antivirus and firewall on in your device.

 Report cyber bullying and online fraud.
