One of the few historical religious sites in Jharkhand is the Bhairav Nath Sthan, located about 10 km east of the Chandankiyari block headquarters of Bokaro district, near Mojudih, this Bhairav Sthan in itself encompasses a lot of history and archaeology. Where we get the feeling of spirituality, eternity, antiquity and historicity at the same place. Devotees throng in big number here everyday to worship. People believe that all their wishes are fulfilled here.

History of the place:

This place of the former Manbhum district of the temple has also been called the Kunti forbidden land. At the time of the Pandavas’ exile, the Pandavas stayed here with Mata Kuti and her brothers. The date of the idols made of black cist stone of the gods and goddesses kept in the holy temple of Bhairav Sthan has been determined by the archaeologists after investigating on the basis of the construction style of this temple, it has been said to be built between 8th to 12th century.

The Origin of the Secret Ganges

It is said that the Pandavas came here during the period of Mahabharata. Mata Kunti, who reached here with the Pandavas after walking a long distance, felt thirsty. Failing to find a source of water nearby, Arjuna pierced the earth with an arrow and drew out a stream of water. This quenched my mother’s thirst. At the same time, there is a continuous flow of water from this small pond in the form of Gupta Ganga.

Recognition:

The fact that the cool water of this holy kund also has medicinal properties is amazing. And the water of this pond never gets spoiled like the water of the Ganges and people suffering from various diseases drink it for health benefits. In the middle of this pond there are two circular stone balls about which people say that on the occasion of Shivratri, they also roam.
